Aramendía crashes out in Norway - in hospital

Caja Rural rider Javier Aramendía crashed out of the Glava Tour of Norway earlier on Wednesday and was taken to hospital.

Fortunately, no broken bones were detected for the former Euskaltel stalwart. The 25-year-old went to ground along with team-mates Aitor Galdós and Antonio Piedra (and some 30 other riders) during the Norwegian stage-race's first stage into Tønsberg, but was the only one on the Caja Rural team not able to complete the stage.

The native of Funes, Navarra, will spend the night under observation, but is expected to be discharged in the morning, reports the team's own website. Though he escaped fractures, he's still pretty banged up and suffered bruises to his arms, legs and back.
