Euskaltel's Classics team set to go

While most orange-tinted eyes will be firmly set on Samuel Sánchez and his associates' exploits at the Vuelta al País Vasco from Monday and onwards, a sizeable contingent of Euskaltel riders will be trying to hunt glory on the cobbles in Northern Europe.

Six races are on the horizon for Euskaltel's chosen eight over the coming fortnight, commencing with Sunday's Ronde van Vlaanderen and concluding with the GP de Denain on March 11, writes

The first few races on Belgian and Dutch soil this year haven't gone entirely according to plan for Óscar Guerrero's mix of young locals and experienced foreigners. The team failed to get a rider across the line in both the E3 Harelbeke and Gent-Wevelgem last weekend, but 'the Carrots' will be hoping for better luck, and better weather at that, for the remainder of the races up north on the continent.

The team will line up in the following races:

  • 31/3: Ronde van Vlaanderen
  • 3/4: Scheldeprijs
  • 4/4: Pino Cerami
  • 7/4: Paris-Roubaix
  • 9/4: Paris-Camembert
  • 11/4: GP de Denain
And the following riders will represent the team:

Alexandre Serebryakov, Steffen Radochla, Juan José Oroz, Peio Bilbao, Ricardo García, Ioannis Tamouridis, André Schulze and Adrián Sáez.
